Allendale

Allendale is a town in St. Clair County, Michigan, United States, located about halfway between Port Huron and Sarnia, Ontario. Allendale is home to a small campus of Ferris State University. It began as a stagecoach stop between Fort Gratiot and Sarnia and was originally known as Monroe. The first permanent settlers were German immigrants in the 1840s, who named it Nesselande after their homeland. In 1849, the name was changed to Allendale when the first post office opened.
