Fenton City Park

Open from 6 am to 11 pm, Fenton City Park is an excellent choice for those looking for a local park with plenty of amenities. The nearly 100-acre park offers athletic fields, multiple pavilions and shelters, picnic tables, and basketball courts.

There's also a 1.5-mile walking trail that's perfect for an afternoon stroll or a morning jog. Biking, walking, running, and rollerblading are all allowed here, so there’s no need to leave your wheels at home. This park is large enough to accommodate a large crowd whether you're coming with kids, on your own, or with a group of friends.

Minnie Ha Ha Park

Minnie Ha Ha Park is a more popular park near the Fenton area in Sunset Hills. Minnie Ha Ha Park opened in 2005, encompassing the famous Mini Ha Ha beach on the banks of the Meramec River. Open from sunrise to sunset, the park offers visitors various activities. The large garden provides a driving range, volleyball courts, a disc golf course, a playground, restrooms, soccer fields, trails, and walking paths.

This is an excellent park for those who want to spend a day in the sun, as there are plenty of open spaces to lay out a blanket and enjoy the weather.

Westside Park

Tucked away between Fenton and Valley Park, Westside Park is an excellent option for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of larger parks. The small park offers a playground, walking trails, a gazebo, and a few picnic tables.

At 10 acres, this park is perfect for families with young children, as it's not large enough for most children to get lost or separated but still offers plenty of space to roam and explore.

And since it's right next to a small fishing lake, it's also the perfect place to come for a peaceful walk or run alongside the water.

Valiant Park

Right next to Fenton City Park, you'll find Valiant Park, a smaller park perfect for those looking for a place to take their kids. The 2.5-acre park has a large playground and a park shelter with a 20-person capacity.

According to Google reviews, Valiant Park is kept immaculately clean, with a high rating from neighborhood regulars. The park also welcomes leashed dogs, perfect for giving your furry friend a breath of fresh air while the kids play. Just be sure to bring doggie bags to clean up any messes. 

Meramec Landing Valley Park

Meramec Landing Valley Park is in Fenton on the Meramec River and is a beautiful place to come for a day of fishing or picnicking. The park has a boat ramp, a picnic area, and excellent access to the Meramec River.

There isn't much to do at Meramec Landing in the way of activities, but it is an excellent place to rest while you wait to launch your boat or take a break from the water. If you plan to spend the day there, be sure to come prepared with activities if you're not planning on boating or getting in the water.  

Lydia D. Buder Park

Named after a local philanthropist, Lydia D. Buder Park is found on the bluffs of the Meramec River in St. Louis County. The enormous park has a few different trails with scenic views, making it perfect for a peaceful walk or run.  

There is also an amphitheater for those who want to enjoy a performance, an archery range, soccer fields, a model airplane field, park shelters, and more.

Buder Park is an excellent place for those who want to experience nature without a rigid plan, as there is plenty to discover to keep you busy.

Simpson Park

Located in Valley Park, Simpson Park is an excellent choice for those who want to enjoy the outdoors without being too far from civilization. The park offers a 72-acre lake, fishing, a playground, walking trails, athletic fields, park shelters, and a few picnic tables.  

The trails here are a part of the 30/30 system throughout St. Louis, a series of interconnected trails that total 30 miles. So, if you're looking for a place to get some exercise with a bit of a challenge, Simpson Park is for you.

Greentree Park

One of the larger parks on this list, Greentree Park spans over 89 acres. The park has athletic fields, BBQ pits, fishing, hiking, an RC car track, picnic pavilions, restrooms, trails, walking paths, and access to the Meramec River. While the park offers many amenities, it is subject to seasonal flooding, so keep a sharp eye out if it rains.

There is something for everyone at Greentree Park, making it an excellent place to spend the day with family and friends. 

George Winter St Louis County Park

This park is perfect for those who love boating, fishing, or just spending time in nature. The park offers short walking trails, a boat launch, park shelters, and picnic tables, mostly centering on access to the water.

When the water is high, larger boats often launch here to travel farther up the Meramec to other parks. When the water is lower, you can spend the day catching local fish varieties, like Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass, Channel Catfish, and Golden Redhorse. 

Emmenegger Nature Park

Emmenegger Nature Park is a beautiful park that has something for everyone. The riverfront park offers fishing, BBQ pits, pavilions, restrooms, scenic views, walking trails, and more.

This is an excellent place for a get-together or family reunion, as the park offers plenty of green spaces to explore, an area to serve food, and shelter from the sun or rain. You can reserve a park shelter ahead of time to ensure your event takes priority.
