When high-visibility commercial properties in Rhode Island need an exterior upgrade, standard builder-grade materials do not cut it. The building has to withstand heavy daily use, harsh New England weather, and still deliver curb appeal that attracts customers from the street.
We recently completed a comprehensive exterior transformation for Flash Car Wash by Balise on the Mineral Spring Avenue corridor in North Providence. The project required tight coordination between premium metal roofing fabrication, custom ventilation, and high-performance siding.
Below is a breakdown of how we engineered this Regal Red and Midnight Blue exterior system.
Precision metal roofing: 24-gauge standing seam
For the roof, the client selected a MetalMax standing seam system in Regal Red.
To eliminate horizontal seams (a common long-term leak risk on many standard metal installs), we brought roll-forming equipment directly to the job site. Each panel was produced to the exact length needed for the roof plane.
The clip system advantage
We used a concealed clip system to anchor the 24-gauge steel panels to the deck. Unlike exposed-fastener metal roofs that rely on thousands of screws and rubber washers, a clip system hides fasteners beneath the seams.
That matters in Rhode Island because temperature swings drive expansion and contraction. Concealed clips allow controlled movement without wallowing out screw holes or depending on exposed sealants.
Custom detailing
We fabricated custom metal trims for key transitions so the flashing was structurally integrated and matched the Regal Red panels cleanly.
Winter defense: S-5! snow retention rails
Steep-slope metal roofs shed snow quickly. For a high-traffic business like a car wash, uncontrolled snow slide is a liability for vehicles and pedestrians.
To manage that risk, we installed an S-5! snow rail system. S-5! clamps secure directly to the standing seams using engineered set screws. This provides strong holding power without drilling through the panels.
The result: snow and ice are retained more safely and the metal roof remains free of unnecessary penetrations.
Engineering the airflow (intake and exhaust)
A premium roof system has to breathe. Without balanced ventilation, heat and moisture can build up and shorten the life of the roof assembly.
We designed a ventilation plan tailored to the building geometry:
Eave intake
We installed custom red vented metal soffits along the lower eaves to match the Regal Red roof and provide continuous intake airflow.
Rake edges
Along the sloped gable edges (rakes), we installed solid red metal soffits to maintain a clean, closed architectural look where intake was not required.
Ridge exhaust
At the peak, we installed a continuous vented ridge assembly to create a stack-effect airflow path that helps flush heat and moisture out of the roof structure.
The contrast: CertainTeed Monogram Midnight Blue siding
To anchor the bright Regal Red roof, the building needed a durable siding profile with strong visual impact.
We installed CertainTeed Monogram vinyl siding in Midnight Blue across the exterior. Monogram is known for rigid performance and strong wind resistance, which makes it a solid fit for Rhode Island commercial applications.
The deep Midnight Blue created a premium contrast against the red metal and modernized the facility street presence on Mineral Spring Avenue.

FAQ
Why are metal roof panels cut on-site instead of at a factory?
On-site roll forming allows continuous panels from eave to ridge. That reduces or eliminates horizontal overlap seams, which are common leak points on many standard metal roofs.
What is the benefit of a concealed clip system for metal roofing?
Concealed clips hide fasteners under the interlocking seams. This reduces exposed penetrations and allows the metal to expand and contract with temperature swings without relying on rubber washers.
Do snow rails damage a metal roof?
Not when the correct hardware is used. S-5! clamps are designed to secure to the standing seam without penetrating the metal, which helps avoid leak risks tied to drilled fasteners.
Is 24-gauge steel good for a roof?
Yes. Lower gauge means thicker metal. 24-gauge is a premium thickness that provides improved resistance to wind, hail, and denting compared to thinner panels.
